Minimum pressure systems use a stop or meter belt where items lightly touch the stop items ahead creating a train of collected items. Conveyor rollers keep on running beneath the line of items, creating the pressure. Minimum pressure allows for products to touch but does not allow for back pressure buildup. The amount of back pressure can be set and is usually around only 2% of the total load being carried on the conveyor. This is made possible through use of a spring adjusted carrier, which can sense the driving friction required to maintain movement without accumulating pressure. Minimum pressure system are generally more effective over short distances.
