Used Accumulation Conveyor

used accumulation conveyor

Accumulation conveyors are a helpful buffer zone between processing. This type of conveyor temporarily slows down and holds products until they are released without back pressure buildup. This will allow operators to efficiently line up cartons or boxes for palletizing, wrapping, sorting, or any other processes. Accumulation conveyors allow for a steady flow of materials which helps to increase production while lowering labor costs. Unlike normal conveyor systems the steady flow stops products from stacking-up which will help to decrease product damage. Often backed-up product can damage guardrails, motors, and belts over time, but accumulation conveyor helps to reduce this wear and tear. Conveyors can be set to zero pressure, allowing complete separation of each box. ASI can also set accumulation conveyors to minimum pressure accumulation, which allows the products to touch with controlled pressure.

Accumulating conveyor belts can be slowed/stopped, allowing products to be consolidated. With each roller touching, a single driven roller can supply power to the rest of the conveyor.

Accumulation conveyors contain rollers to transport product, and are typically part of an entire conveyor system. They consist of pop-up sensors that hold product in place on the conveyor line until the next section is clear. Once the next section is clear, the sensor receives a signal and releases the product. This is extremely useful when you need to transport products onto a case sealer, sortation system, weigh stations, or any part of the system that requires each product to be handled individually.

The two main types of accumulation conveyor are zero pressure and minimum pressure.

Zero pressure accumulation conveyor systems create a buffer for items while being conveyed. This buffering helps to keep products from touching each other while getting transported. Zero pressure conveyors help to decrease the risk of items being damaged during accumulation and are often used in distribution facilities, shipping centers, or to queue up goods for sorting. Zero pressure accumulation conveyors use photo-eyes and electronic controls without any use of pneumatic logic. Ideally this type of conveyor is often used for sorting, wrapping, palletizing, strapping or many other processes within a facility.

Minimum pressure accumulation conveyors make a continuous flow of packages so that they are allocated evenly or held back when the conveyor line isn’t ready for additional products. This helps to eliminate the build-up product flow when there is conveyor line congestion, product backups, or blockages. When packages are stopped, pressure is kept to a minimum to eliminate package and product damage. The amount of back pressure can be set and is usually around only 2% of the total load being carried on the conveyor. This is made possible through use of a spring adjusted carrier, which can sense the driving friction required to maintain movement without accumulating pressure. Minimum pressure accumulation conveyors have lowered noises, higher dependability, enhanced output, and require low maintenance.

Used accumulation conveyor manufacturers include Buschman, Mathews, Rapistan, and Speedway. American Surplus stocks these brands along with Hytrol, Ermanco, ACSI, and Interlake. Design and installation of used belt over roller conveyor, by trained professionals, is available nationwide.

Why buy used accumulation conveyor? Conveyor can be very expensive to buy new, and intimidating to buy used because you may not know exactly what condition it’s in. Here at ASI, we specialize in used, and each unit is hand inspected, tested, and cleaned prior to shipment. We guarantee our conveyor will work upon arrival (exclusive of freight damage). We also provide installation services to ensure that your conveyor system is installed and functioning properly.
